How often to clean them

During Greenville’s heavy cooling season, aim for every 2 to 4 weeks. Homes with pets, smokers, or lots of pollen nearby should lean toward the shorter end. In the off-season, once a month is usually plenty.

Step by step

• Turn the unit off at the remote for safety.
• Open the front panel of the indoor unit — it hinges upward and stays open.
• Gently slide out the mesh filters. Note how they sit so you can replace them the same way.
• Rinse them under lukewarm water from the clean side out. For heavier grime, a little mild dish soap helps.
• Let them dry completely — never reinstall damp filters, as trapped moisture encourages mold.
• Slide them back in, close the panel, and you are done.
